But who are the people who have such side hustles? According to that same Bankrate Survey, millennials make up 48% of the side hustlers, hoping to boost their income and make room for more savings. This is most likely because the millennials have seen their parents struggle through the Great Recession, and they now have come to realize the importance of having a financial cushion.

The first and most obvious reason why you’d want to have a side job online is that you can increase your income. There are lots of places where you can find online side jobs. You can turn to Facebook groups for remote and home-based workers and freelancers. You could scour through Craigslist (with caution) and look at multiple freelancer websites and marketplaces for possible opportunities.

But two of my go-to sources for legit job sides are FlexJobs and ZipRecruiter.

FlexJobs is a job posting site that specializes in online side jobs, part-time and flexible jobs. Flexjobs prides itself on weeding out scams and presenting only legit jobs to job seekers.

ZipRecruiter, on the other hand, is a massive job listing site and is a job search engine in itself. Employers who post jobs on the site get broader exposure as job listings are distributed to hundreds of other job directories as well. For job seekers, ZipRecruiter allows you to create a profile, post resumes, and apply to jobs with one click.

Blogging is possibly one of the best online side jobs that can bring in some extra cash. What I like so much about blogging is you don’t even have to be an expert writer to start a blog and you can make a full-time income while blogging from home or anywhere. Blogging can bring in money in different ways, including sponsored posts, ads, and affiliate marketing. 

• Income potential: 9/10 – Lots of bloggers earn $500-$2000 each month of their first two years, but successful ones make over $10,000 to $50,000 or more per month.
• Investment: 1/10 – If you already have a computer and internet connection, the next thing you need is a domain name and hosting which costs as low as $2.75 here.
• Difficulty: 5/10 – Setting up your own blog is easy, and content is typically based on what you’re interested in or passionate about. However, it may take a lot of effort in writing and learning strategies to start making money from a blog. It’s not that difficult though but it’s a long-term game.

If you’ve always wanted to become an online seller, you can piggyback on Amazon’s influence and popularity through Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Amazon FBA allows you to sell on Amazon, without having to worry about the logistics, shipping, and customer service. Amazon takes care of that for you.

You can make money delivering food, groceries, packages, and more. Often, these jobs entail that you are of legal age and eligible to work in the country. Some companies require that you have a car in good running condition, while others allow scooters or bikes.

Renting out your spare bedroom or even the entire home can be an awesome way to encourage passive income. The sharing economy is shaping the way people look for housing and accommodations. Opening your home to guests is a wonderful easy money-making job that requires minimal work and investment. At the very least, you want to spice up the space so that it’s more comfortable and keep it clean all the time.
