Get Paid for Advertising on Your Car
Did you know that you can get paid to drive your car? Nope, you won’t be delivering food orders or taking in passengers.
I am really talking about getting paid to drive your car like you normally do.
How? Simply sign up for car wrap advertising to turn your car into a moving billboard. Then, drive your car like you always do and you’ll get compensated for the miles, time and effort you exerted.
But why would you want to get paid to have ads on your car or drive around with decals of companies on your vehicle?
Well, when you come to think of it, the money you earn through car wrap advertising is passive income, which means you won’t have to barter your time for money. You can use this extra money to pay your bills, buy groceries or boost your savings!
When the contract is over, you’ll have your car back in its previous state and you’ll have more money in your pocket!
Making money through car wrap advertising isn’t the usual side hustle idea I recommend here. If you want to learn more high-paying mom jobs that make me $5,000 a month, check out this post!
But if you don’t mind driving around with ads on your car for an extra $200, $500 or more per month, then this post is for you!
Without further ado, let’s learn how to get paid to have ads on your car!
Why are companies putting ads on cars?
Table of Contents
Car wrap advertising is centuries old. Yep. In 1900, Hershey displayed its logo on early cars. The trend spread widely that even buses and planes were constantly used for outdoor advertising.
Nowadays, it’s quite common to see private vehicles carrying such moving billboards. You’ve probably seen a couple of them yourself – cars wrapped with glaring red bull ads and that iconic Coca-Cola logo.
Many brands spend on this mobile advertising method to maximize exposure. Just think of it this way: you own rental property by the beachfront, and you want to keep it occupied with guests. A billboard standing on the heart of the city may be enough to promote your business, but if you have the same ad running around, from schools to commercial districts to neighborhoods, you would be reaching more people more than that billboard ever could. That’s why companies invest in car wrap advertising. It’s pretty cost-effective.
And fortunately, for most drivers and car owners, getting into this gig is quite easy. You’ll be making at least $100 to $500 a month (some earn more depending on your location) by just carrying those ads on your vehicle. And the best thing is after the ads were installed in your car, you just have to drive your vehicle around like you normally would.
How to Get Paid for Advertising On Your Car
So, the question is: how to get paid advertising on your car? Surprisingly, it is a very simple process and it requires very little effort on your part. This is how you can make money from car wrap advertising.
1. Find legit car wrap advertising agencies.
There’s a number of car wrap advertising agencies across the country, and most of them can be accessed online. However, you have to be picky with the agency you work for because this industry has also been proliferated by scammers.
Anyway, these agencies work with brands and act as middlemen in finding suitable cars to carry their clients’ ads.
2. Assess yourself if you qualify for this opportunity.
Different agencies and different brands have different qualifications. You may qualify for one and not for another.
Typically, agencies require that the drivers who work for them are of legal age, own newer model cars, carry car insurance and cars are free from dents, rust and damage. They will then further assess your application based on your driving habits and routine. Most of these agencies prefer people who spend a lot of time in the city because that’s where their clients’ ads get the most exposure.
If your vehicle tends to rest in the garage 90% of the time, then you may not be a fit candidate.
3. Get your car wrapped with a vinyl ad.
If you qualify for an ad campaign, the agency will then direct you to their car wrapping service provider. Depending on the contract, your car may be wrapped in its entirety or just a portion of it.
4. Drive the car.
Once your car is ad-ready, you can start driving it around like you normally would. Note that some companies ask that you install a GPS on your car to make sure that you’re keeping your end of the deal. They will lose out if they found out that you haven’t been driving your car for specific periods, miles or location. And that can cause you being kicked out from the campaign.
5. Claim your payment.
Ad campaigns typically run from two to six months. Most agencies pay at least $400 each month, so if you manage to snag a six-month campaign, you’re looking forward to $2400 in income, just by driving your car!

How to spot car wrap advertising scams
As much as there are services and companies where you can get paid to have advertising on your car, there are also scams, and you should be careful with them, lest you don’t end up shelling your own money to scrupulous individuals.
One of the most popular scams is the Western Union scam. Basically, an illegitimate car wrapping service provider will contact you for a car advertising gig. They will send you a check, and instruct you to wire a portion of that payment to their car wrapping contractor, and the rest is your upfront payment. However, you will soon find out that the check is not funded, so you’ve basically sent money to someone who’s supposed to wrap your car, with your own money.
Such scams take different forms, but they all end up with one thing: you spend money, instead of them paying you. So be wary of such offers by:
- Checking out the company’s details. They must have a website, an email and a phone number that works.
- They have minimum requirements. Although it’s easy to get paid for advertising on your vehicle, it shouldn’t be that easy. They must only employ drivers of legal age, with car insurance and good driving habits. If your application didn’t ask for these minimums, take that as a red flag.
- They don’t offer to pay you upfront and then send money to the car wrapping company. They must send you the sticker or ask you to go to their car wrapping service provider which they will pay themselves. You must not take money out of your pocket to pay for the installation of the ad.
Get paid for advertising on your car: is this worth it?
Well, you can get paid for advertising on your car, sure, but it shouldn’t be your main source of income. It isn’t as stable because campaigns come and go. You don’t want to end up starting from scratch after your campaign is over. It’s a nice way to gain supplemental income to cover for gas and perhaps auto insurance, but it won’t make you rich overnight.
It’s also a commitment, and if you’re not comfortable that your car is sticking out with its vivid ad wraps, then this is not the gig for you. You’ll be stuck with a campaign for a month to a year or two, so make sure you understand what it entails. You cannot sell your car while your campaign is ongoing.
But, if you want to get paid to put ads on your car and drive like you normally do, then this is an opportunity worth considering. Make sure to check out the opportunity properly, and tread carefully to avoid scams.

Hi Christian, I believe most of these companies accept a 2012 model. It all depends on where you go. Wrapify accepts a 2008 model so yours should be good. They might also check your mileage to know how often you use your car. Thanks for stopping by!

HI Caprisha, simply sign up with the companies mentioned in the post. Wrapify is a more popular one. I’d suggest checking out with these companies to see how much they offer. Note that there are factors that affect the rates such as the advertising you choose (full car wrap may pay more), your location, etc.

We have an older pickup truck on good shape. Can we still qualify?
Jane
Hi Connie, it all depends on the model and the car advertising agency you choose. Carvertise, for example, requires at least a 2008 model car and you drive 30 miles per day. If your truck is at least a 2008 model, you might qualify. I still recommend contacting the company even if your truck is older than what’s required.
