Gone are the days when one has to scour through numerous classified ads in newspapers or advertise a job opening on flyers. Nowadays, getting a job and finding the right candidate is just a matter of being on the right platform. And today, I’m going to do a mini “face-off” between ZipRecruiter vs LinkedIn to hopefully help you assess which is the right job post site for you.

Ziprecruiter is a giant employment marketplace that uses AI-powered technology to make to connect jobs to the best candidates. It claims to have helped over 1.8 million companies of all sizes since it was established in 2010. According to its website, there are over 9 million job postings on the platform available every day.

ZipRecruiter acts as a search engine for jobs. Hiring managers, empoyers and recruiters can post their jobs, then the site disburses the listing to hundreds of other job directories and listing sites to maximize exposure. On the other hand, job seekers can create profiles and upload resumes. They could also use the site to look for jobs that match their criteria and preference, and even receive alert notifications when new jobs are posted.

Meanwhile, LinkedIn functions essentially as a social networking site for professionals, but now also acts as one of best free job post sites. Because LinkedIn offers such incredible networking opportunities, it’s also become one of the best platforms to find jobs or hire your next best candidate.

For employers, there are different ways to use LinkedIn to attract candidates, depending on the size of the company and budget. LinkedIn Jobs, for instance, is a free-to-use platform for posting site. However, if you wish to increase the exposure of your job listing, you may avail of the pay-per-click subscription model.

There’s also the LinkedIn Recruiter which is more ideal for larger companies that need to hire various job slots during the year. LinkedIn Recruiter has more advanced features, such as search filters and match-making with potential candidates, but it also tends to cost more than the basic LinkedIn Jobs.

Job seekers could also use LinkedIn to hunt for their next best opportunities. Your profile should contain your crediential and experience to attract potential employers. You may also network with employers and business owners, and then apply on their job posts directly.

Price Comparison: ZipRecruiter vs LinkedIn

ZipRecruiter is a free to use platform for job seekers. All its job-seeker-related features such as searching and applying for jobs, uploading resumes and setting up job notifications don’t cost any money.

You can sign up with ZipRecruiter for FREE here.

Meanwhile, job seekers may create a basic account on LinkedIn for free. This account comes with several nifty features, such as building your professional identity on the web, networking with other professionals and using the platform’s build-in messaging system.

If you wish to explore more features, you may opt to upgrade to a premium account, but its cost is not disclosed on the website.

Employers and recruiters should expect to pay the price if they wish to use either ZipRecruiter or LinkedIn. ZipRecruiter has a pay-per-post basis which depends on the number of reusable slots you wish to use for a given period. Meanwhile, LinkedIn follows the pay-per-click model and the payment depends on your preferred PPC daily budget.

As for subscription, ZipRecruiter charges $249 per month for one reusable slot and $1569 per month for 50 reusable slots. Meanwhile, LinkedIn charges $8,999/year and this subscription alreaduy includes all the advanced features and extra search tools.

ZipRecruiter vs LinkedIn: The Advantages

If you’re wondering where to post jobs, you should first look at what the platform has to offer.

ZipRecruiter comes with robust features that make job posting and job hunting quick and easy. Some of its most notable features include:

  • Candidate tracking
  • Live phone suppost
  • Interview scheduling
  • Real-time notifications
  • Job posting
  • Pay-per-post advertising
  • Resume search

Although LinkedIn functions mainly as a networking site for professionals, it also has some notable features that were designed for both job seeekers and recruiters in mind, such as:

  • Search function
  • Recruitement ads targeted to specific talents or professionals
  • Lead management feature
  • Choose between pay-per-click or subscription plans
  • Windows and mobile compatibility
  • Live chat

Which is better for job seekers?

Both Linkedin and ZipRecruiter are great job post sites. ZipRecruiter allows for a more targeted job search, thanks to its handy filters. Job seekers can look for jobs according to location, job title salary range and more. You may also upload your resume and use the one-tap apply option to quickly apply for jobs.

LinkedIn, on ther other hand, is more about building connections. You can build a professional profile and use it to attract potential employers. Also, you may connect with employers, business owners, colleagues, and classmates to stay on the loop of their job vacancies. You may also reach out directly to company owners and connect with them through LinkedIn’s messaging feature.

Which is better for hiring managers and recruiters?

It’s not always easy to find the best talents for the right jobs, but it seems to me that ZipRecruiter did a good job in helping companies find the best match to their job openings. This is largely because ZipRecruiter uses an AI system that parses through millions of resumes on their database and filter the best talents that match the employers’ criteria.

Additionally, ZipRecruiter aggregates its job listings so they’re also visible to other job sites. This exponentially increases the odds of hiring managers attracting the best candidates.

Conclusion

As far as ZipRecruiter vs. LinkedIn goes, I believe that both sites perform excellently as job post sites. Job seekers and hiring managers can use one or both of them, and the decision really now boils down to one’s budget and personal preference.

However, I might be leaning more towards ZipRecruiter because it has more robust and unique features that are useful for job hunting and listing. Whether you want to find a job or attract the right candidate, I believe that ZipRecruiter has made its site and app so comprehensive, user-friendly and innovative.

Have you used ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn to find jobs or hire people? Which do you think is better?
