Welcome to my November 2018 Income Report
Table of Contents
Can somebody please pinch me? Because I am totally shocked that I actually made $1937.65 blogging in November! To be honest, it feels surreal writing this income report because I feel like I just wrote my $900 October income yesterday … and here I am today writing $1937!
I know, if you’re not new to blogging, this is not big news…because there are a bunch of other bloggers making insane amounts of money or doing much better than me.
But, if you’re like me who’s still sometimes doubting the idea that you can actually make money blogging, maybe this post will interest you.
But like I always say here, I don’t know how my blog will do in the future or in the next few months. Blogging to me is a volatile industry so I may go back to earning less or nothing, who knows? But one thing I can prove to you today is that IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE GOOD MONEY BLOGGING… and you don’t have to learn it all before you even get started.
If you want to learn everything about blogging before you even get started, you’ll never be able to start because there’s so much to learn.
Trust me. Just get started if this is something you want to do and just learn as you go.
When I decided to blog, I had no idea how to set up a self-hosted blog, and I had no experience in blogging. Even until now, 10 months into blogging, I still feel so behind and I feel like I still don’t know what I’m doing. Despite all the setbacks, my blog was still able to make some money–even more than I had hoped for!
UPDATE (11/2020) My blogging income has long surpassed my income from my previous job, and I am truly very thankful that I decided to try blogging! If you want to give it a try and you have no idea how to get started, please check out my detailed and free step-by-step blogging guide for beginners!

WHY I PUBLISH MY INCOME?
Please skip the next part and head directly to the income details down below if you are not new here or don’t care about why I write this kind of post.
Although I’ve been publishing my income since I started blogging, to be honest sometimes I feel uneasy or nervous doing this because: 1.) I don’t want this to come off as bragging. 2.) Since each blog is different, I can’t guarantee that all the things I share here will all work for you. Blogging is NOT an exact science so there’s no one way of doing this and the strategies that may have worked for me may or may not work for you.
And 3.) I don’t want this Income Report to sound like another “I made it so can you” income report—that makes “making money blogging” sound so easy. But don’t get me wrong, I believe it is possible to make REALLY GOOD money blogging and maybe you can do it too or you can do better than me. My point is that I don’t want to sell the idea of starting a blog to make QUICK money. I don’t want to mislead you.
To give you a little background on my blogging progress, in January 2018, I had ZERO pageviews and $0 blogging income. In February, I had 3000 pageviews and still $0 blogging income.
I only started making over $500 in September with 30,000 pageviews.
But then again, I am not here to discourage you from blogging either. On the contrary, if you have a new blog and are discouraged because you are not making money from it, please do not give up. We all start at $0 blogging income and 0 pageviews. Just continue pushing through and putting in the effort.
Don’t have a blog and want to give blogging a shot? You can start your own blog for cheap, for $2.75 a month through this link.
So why do I publish my blogging income?
These Income Reports started out as Goals and Progress Update where I wrote about my online income (freelancing) and minimalism progress. In September though, I decided to only write about income related to blogging as it is what most of my readers are more interested in.
I also think it’s more fun writing about because blogging income is dynamic and changes every month. I also thought that writing these income reports allows me to reflect on my progress and failures in blogging, and to motivate myself to keep pushing through.
Other than personal reasons, I also want these income reports to be an avenue for me to share what I’ve learned hoping to help others as well.
What I did in November?
What really surprised me last month is that my blog still performed well even if I only published 5 new posts (two of which are Income Reports). My pageviews increased from 50.8k to 88.4k!
I did not do anything new in November and actually spent less time blogging. I even took a few days break from my blog and I was thrilled to see an income even during those days. This is when blogging income can feel passive sometimes.
I continued implementing the strategies I learned from this eBook
As I mentioned in my previous Income Reports, this Pinterest eBook helped me grow my Pinterest monthly viewers from 200k to now over 1 million. In November, I continued implementing the strategies, such as creating more fresh pins, adding keywords to Pinterest boards and pins and repining top pins, etc.
I cannot tell you more about what’s inside the eBook but I can guarantee you that it is jampacked with information (with 170 pages) about how to improve your Pinterest views to drive traffic to your site and it is so affordable at $35! I can recommend this product to you if:
You are new to Pinterest and have no idea how to use it to drive traffic to your blog.
You’ve been using Pinterest for some time now but your efforts have not been generating results.
Want to learn more about Pinterest? I wrote a detailed guide here on how to use Pinterest to make money blogging!
I continued implementing affiliate marketing strategies
I only made $37 through affiliate marketing in September (check out my September 2018 Income Report) so I decided to take this affiliate marketing course. I’ve read a lot of great reviews about this course as it was created by a successful blogger who consistently makes $50k a month through affiliate marketing and in this course, she shared all her strategies.
I just started implementing some of the strategies I’ve learned so it might take a while to start seeing good results. But I’ve already noticed a little increase in my affiliate income. From $37 in September, my affiliate income increased to $70+ in October and to $262.50 in November.
Now let’s take a look at my income breakdown…
- Ads (Mediavine) – $1,625.39- Thank you Mediavine!
- Amazon – $154.55
- $5 Meal Plan – $40.50
- Ibotta– $10
- Igain – 13.50
- Acorns – $10 – This is a great app to use if you want to save and invest. You can get started with investing using this app with $5. Receive $5 from me to start investing by signing up through this link (U.S. only)
- Flexoffers- $7.50
- Blogging Products that I recommend – $26.60
TOTAL: $1937.65
Please note Mediavine’s payment cycle is NET 65 so I won’t get paid for my November earnings until February.
Here are some proofs.
Parting Thoughts
While it only initially cost me around $4 a month to start this blog, I also spent some money on blogging resources later when I decided I want to grow this blog. I have probably spent $500 (more or less) on blogging resources but this expense has helped me grow my blog faster.
I know it can be scary to spend money on a blog that doesn’t even make a penny. What if these products don’t work?
However, I got tired of spinning the wheels and not getting anywhere. I decided to let go of that fear and I am glad I did! Sure, you can try to figure it all out by yourself but how much time can you wait to start seeing results?
Don’t have a blog yet? Why not? If fear is what’s keeping you from getting started, my advice is to JUST DO IT! You can start your own blog for cheap, for $2.75 a month only through this link.
If you need a more detailed guide on how to make money with a blog, check out this post! In this post, I shared the strategies I used to grow my blog from earning $0 per month to $10,000+ per month!

Wow this is truly amazing!
I can’t wait to see your next few months!! You’re doing really well!! And 88k pageviews?? That’s really impressive!!
Btw, I just pinched you.
Jane
Thank you ! And for pinching me too!
Amber
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate your transparency, especially having a new blog. It seems like MediaVine is key. Any tips to getting to the 25,000 sessions more quickly?
Jane
Hey Amber! Thank you for stopping by! What I can really recommend is to master Pinterest and keep improving your views and have a viral pin or two. Two viral pins can easily help you get to that 25k sessions in a month.
Monica
Jane this is so great and very impressive! Gives me hope that I might be able to make that jump from a 3 figure income to 4. You and Panda are doing so well and give me a lot of hope 🙂 I feel like I’m at a point where I am creating new content, but not focusing on the right areas to monetize. Reading through an affiliate course now so who know what the next few months will bring. I look forward to when you hit the $5k mark!
Jane
Hi Monica! Yes, Panda is amazing! You are doing so well too! You have a nice blog and great posts so I am sure you’ll do well and better! Keep going!
Jo
Hi Jane, I’ve just come across your income report. Congrats on your latest income increase. You and Panda have inspired us on this blogging journey. And for showing that it’s possible to earn money form blogging. Here’s wishing you an even more successful year in 2019.
Jane
Hi jo! Thank you for stopping by. I honestly don’t know if I’ll earn the same amount this month as it’s a slow month for advertising but I’ll still continue to put in the efforts hoping one day they’ll pay off. Good luck to you as well and I am sure you can do better! Let’s not give up!
