Setting off on a journey to financial freedom was not just a random decision that I made out of the blue. I became a mom in January, I lost my father in November last year and partly blamed my finances for it, and our family time suffered a lot because my husband had to work every day to maintain our household. I knew that I had to step in and do something to improve the quality of our life.

My journey to my life goals starts here.

Setting off on this financial road trip was not just a random decision. I became a mom in January, I lost my father in November last year and partly blamed my finances for it, and my husband had to work every single day to maintain our household. I knew that I had to step in and do something to improve the quality of our life.

I am writing this on August 1, 2017 and my goal is,  6 years from the birth of this blog or before I turn 38, I will see a big improvement in my finances and quality of living. My ultimate goal is to be financially free and to live a meaningful life.

I don’t know about you, but my idea of financial freedom is NOT to become rich or a millionaire or anything like that. Financial independence for me is a state wherein my husband and I no longer have to stress or worry about money to live or pay for our basic necessities, I can help others and not worry that I will run out of money and I have the option to stop and live life.

But honestly, I pretty much have no idea how to do it. With a small baby who’s currently 7 months old, all I know is that I have to set sail for my goals NOW. I am hoping that I will learn the ropes along the way and be able to navigate my way through my destination.

I decided to blog about this journey to hold myself accountable while hopefully also inspiring others to strive for theirs and I am starting this journey off a small and unstable freelancing income, with a small baby, a maximum of 4 hours per day, and $0 in personal savings.

So, let’s see where this journey will take me. Welcome to my blog!

  1. So well written and all the best to you! I’m no stranger to the freelancing side – but if you set goals and stay at it, you will carve out a path!
